Kyiv is the capital of Ukraine with a population of 2.8 million people. It is a rapidly developing European city that combines ancient history, unique culture, and modern life. Shrouded in legends and myths, Kyiv lies on seven picturesque hills along the mighty Dnipro River, and is the cradle of Slavic civilization – Kyivan Rus. Within a short time Kyiv has bloomed with a number of museums, galleries, concert halls, new theaters and art centers. A must-see place is Andrew’s Descent (often called “Kyiv Montmartre”) – a meeting place of folk masters, modern Ukrainian artists, and creative young people. The Ukrainian capital also offers a vast choice of night clubs with world-class DJs and cozy restaurants with open terraces overlooking the wondrous city nightlife. Everyone will find the right place for themselves. Kyiv is often called a “green city”, and it is easy to see why: gardens, parks, and other vegetation covers about 60% of its total area. It is also a center of Christian pilgrimage. Only in Kyiv can you visit more than 1,000 churches, monasteries, and other sacred sites, some of which are on the UNESCO World Heritage List.

Kyiv is not only a modern metropolis, but a hospitable, open European city with a well-developed infrastructure. Kyiv residents, known for their hospitality, love of life, and kindness, will always welcome you into the city.
