CINEMA
The development of Ukrainian cinema actually began in 1893. Oleksandr Dovzhenko is considered the most
famous Ukrainian filmmaker. Today Ukrainian cinema is experiencing new uplift. Main state executive body
that provides realization of state policy on cinema is Ukrainian State Cinema Agency http://dergkino.gov.ua/ua/text/legal-basis.html.
Agency also has financing programs for film productions.
Cinema production in Ukraine is provided by number of state and private-owned studios: Dovzhenko Film
Studios (Kyiv) Odessa Film Studio (Odesa), Film.UA, Star Media.

established and presents Golden Dziga award in 18 nominations annually. In 2018 “Best Film” was awarded
to “Cyborgs”. Also, every year Ukraine nominates movies for Oscar “Best Foreign Film” award. In 2018
movie “Donbas” was chosen for an Oscar long-list.
ANIMATION
Just like cinema Ukrainian animation has a long history and for the last several years experiences renaissance. Leading animation studios such as: Animagrad, Red Dog, Ukranimafilm are among those who create new Ukrainian animation (“The Dragon Spell”, “The Stolen Princess”, “Mavka. The Forest Song”)
GAMES
Video-game industry in Ukraine is rapidly growing market. Beside the offices of famous studios such as Ubisoft (France), Plarium (Israel), a lot of Ukrainian game-developing studious and their products received world-wide recognition: GSC Game World (“S.T.A.L.K.E.R” game series), 4A Games (“Metro” game series), iLogos, Room8, etc.
